History of Parnassos

Note: Current plans for the remainder of  FY 2019/20 have been put on hold pending resolution of the risks associated with corona virus. We intend to resume as soon as the risks are better defined and acceptable.

Plans for the remainder of FY 2019/20 include the following events:

  • A presentation on the role of the Church during the period of the occupation of Constantinople by the Ottomans (1453AD) by Kerim Kartal, Queens University.
  • A presentation on the Greeks of Africa and Asia by Tony Wood. The latter follows a previous Parnassos event on the Greeks of Egypt.
  • A presentation on the Greek experience in Canada, by Prof. Stefanos Constantinides, University of Quebec at Montreal.

In association with the 60th Anniversary of Cyprus Independence, plans are in place for speakers to address topics, such as the history of Cyprus through the ages, economic and other progress in Cyprus since independence, efforts towards reconciliation between the Greek and Turkish communities, negotiations towards a permanent solution of the Cyprus dispute, etc.

As in the past, we invite suggestions for speakers and other events from our Members and Friends of Parnassos.
